Works~N~Progress Wins  GOLD at the 2025 W3 Awards

Los Angeles, CA – September 30, 2025 – Works~N~Progress, created and hosted by award winning writer, producer, director Monice Mitchell Simms, has been honored with a 2025 W3 Gold Award for Best Use of Writing.

The series uniquely captures the authentic, behind-the-scenes creative process of storytellers from all walks of life, and demystifies creativity by revealing the highs and lows of the artistic journey before the final product is complete.

Intimate and entertaining, each episode features a conversation with a storyteller, who shares a piece of their work. Professional actors then perform the submitted scene on camera, giving the artist a chance to see their words come to life. And the result – a blend of creative discovery and emotional reflection – celebrates what is still in progress.

“This award means so much, because Works~N~Progress isn’t just about finished art,” said Mitchell Simms. “It’s about honoring the process and the courage it takes to create.”

Executive Producer Dr. Ryeal Simms added, “Our goal has always been to motivate and uplift creators. This recognition proves that authentic storytelling still moves people.”

With a growing global audience and its second season in development,Works~N~Progress continues to inspire anyone who has ever dared to create something meaningful.

Storytellers Take Center Stage in New Podcuseries

Los Angeles, CA – February 14, 2025 –  Works~N~Progress, premiering April 9, 2025 (http://worksnprogress.com), is an one-of-a-kind podcuseries that brings diverse storytellers of various genres together to share their in-progress work and unfiltered journeys.

The show is executive produced and hosted by award-winning author/screenwriter/showrunner, Monice Mitchell Simms. Episodes will drop monthly and feature spirited conversations with guests, such as Emmy award winning screenwriter, Jane Anderson, and outspoken sports journalist, Jemele Hill. And in an inventive twist, samples of guests’ works-n-progress are directed by Monice and performed by the show’s cast of professional actors.

A Hollywood writer for 28 years, Monice said she created her show’s unique  concept to fulfill three goals:

  • Provide seasoned storytellers an opportunity to promote themselves as they’re creating their work
  • Demystify the creative process for aspiring writers
  • And fill a void for audiences seeking novel, diverse content

“Life is life-ing a lot in our world today, and no one would blame anyone for not finishing their stories, “ said Monice, who has also interviewed some of the world’s greatest storytellers, including Toni Morrison, Maya Angelou, Hollywood director Gina Prince Bythewood and President Barack Obama as a journalist.

“But we need new stories told from different points of views now more than ever. And I hope that these conversations will not only inspire my audience to finish their own stories, but we’ll also remind them that storytellers matter and they’re not alone.”

Season one guests include Kimberly Allen, Eddie Ruiz and Miguel Duran, Miles Grose, Anderson and Hill. And the cast features Joy DeMichelleEddie Ruiz, Nic Few and Jordana Oberman
